Google is expanding the AR feature in mobile search by adding a bunch of new Japanese characters. The new characters are originally from various Japanese culture genres like anime, TV, games, etc. The list also consists of famous characters like Pac-Man, Hello Kitty, and many others.

The users can access the AR feature along with the new characters in mobile search using Google Search in the web browser or Google app. These can be availed by both Android and iOS operating system users. Following is a list of all the new characters that are added to Google Search AR:

  • Ultraman
  • Ultraman Zero
  • Ultraman Belial
  • Gomora
  • Evangelion (EVA-01 Test Type)
  • Gundam
  • Cogimyun
  • The drums from Taiko no Tatsujin
  • Pac-Man
  • Pompompurin
  • Little twin stars

You can access the characters by entering their names on Google search or by saying their names after ‘OK Google.’ You will now find an option, ‘See in your space,’ right under the search result.

Once you tap on the option, you can find a plane to showcase the 3D character in AR. The characters are usually interactive, and the users can pan, rotate or zoom by walking around. Although Google has also released cars to its AR model in the December of 2020, there are only 250 models available yet.
