Receiving Calls And Messages While Driving Now Easier With The New Google Feature For Indians

April 20, 2021 by Dinesh Goswami Leave a Comment

Attending calls or texting while driving is a dangerous act to commit. Yet, people worldwide keep practicing this due to work pressure and keep taking bigger life risks. Google, therefore, has introduced a new feature here in India that allows drivers to easily take calls and reply to messages while they are driving.

As stated on the support page for Google Maps, Google Assistant’s driving mode will now be available in Google Maps in all Android for Indian users. This feature will allow drivers to quickly attend calls, send and review messages using voice without getting distracted from the road.

Now users can get alerts for calls and take or decline them simply by using voice. The feature also reads out messages so that the driver does not have to look at the phone. All these can be done without exiting the navigation screen, thus minimizing distractions for drivers.

Using Driving Mode is very simple as one can activate it simply by opening Google Maps, starting a journey, and selecting the Driving Mode pop-up. Or, one may head to phone settings and under ‘Assistant Settings’, select ‘Transportation,’ then ‘Driving Mode,’ and switch it on. This feature is currently usable only for Android phones of 9.0 and higher, with 4 GB RAM.
