Google Pay Users Can Now Send Money From the US to India and Singapore

May 13, 2021 by Nitin Maheta Leave a Comment

Google Pay has left its users surprised by delivering a feature that allows its US users to send money to users in India and Singapore. This article also gives you a quick summary of this feature and its future in the market. This article will guide you on using Google Pay to send money from the US to India and Singapore.

Google has teamed up with money transfer firms Western Union and Wise for the international payments feature. Although this feature is limited to sending money from the US to India and Singapore, Google plans on expanding it. Western Union will be available in 200 countries and territories, whereas Wise will be available in 80 countries.

This feature by Google pushes the company deeper into the financial sector and will enter the massive remittances sector. This feature only allows the transfer of money between two individual users and does not support the transfer of money to businesses. If you currently reside in the US and want to send money to your family and friends in India and Singapore, read the steps mentioned below.

Steps to send money via Google Pay from the US to India or Singapore

  • The first and foremost step is to download the Google Pay app from the Play Store. You have to update Google Pay to the latest version if you have an older version on your device.
  • Set up your Google Pay app by following the prompts on the screen, which involves adding your bank accounts linked to your phone number.
  • Browse and select the Google Pay user to whom you want to send money.
  • Click on the “Pay” button and then choose between Western Union or Wise.
  • Then choose “Continue” and follow the instructions on the screen to complete your transaction.

Conclusion
Google Pay has introduced this feature amidst the ongoing second wave of COVID-19 in India, which is very useful. The Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) living in the US can now send money to their friends and family affected by the ongoing pandemic. This makes the transfer of money easy, thereby helping both parties.
