December 28, 2020 by Nitin Maheta Leave a Comment

Gone are the days when you had to own an Xbox console to play Xbox games. Now, you can play Xbox games on multiple devices spanning several operating systems. The latest update is that now you can enjoy Xbox One games on Windows 10. If you possess a PC copy of the Xbox game, you can run it on your computer. Follow the given steps, and you are good to go.

Verify Xbox Play Anywhere compatibility

Various games published on the Microsoft Store can support Xbox Play Anywhere. This implies that if you purchase a particular game on the store, you can play the game on both platforms. There does not have to be an additional payment for the console version. An added benefit is that your save data can also synchronize on Windows 10 and the Xbox console.

However, it should be noted that there is no special provision of a dedicated section of Xbox Play Anywhere in the store. To make sure, search the games that are Play Anywhere compatible, and then search them on the store. As of now, there are 78 of them. You should also ensure that your PC holds the minimum hardware requirements to play these games.

Streaming to Windows 10

There is a built-in feature in Windows 10 for streaming the Xbox console content to a Windows 10 PC. To accomplish this, you need to have the Xbox Console Companion app.

Allow game streaming on Xbox

To begin, you need to enable game streaming from the console. To do this, follow the given steps:

  • On the controller, hold and release the Xbox button.
  • There will be a tab named “Profile and System.” Select that.
  • From the list, select “settings.”
  • When you are on the next screen, select “Devices and Streaming.”
  • The “Console streaming” tile will be visible there. Select it.
  • From there on, you have to select the box which should be next to “Enable Console Streaming” and ensure to check it.

Connect a controller

Broadly speaking, two types of Xbox one controllers exist — those with Bluetooth and those without. If you own the latter, you need to buy Microsoft’s Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows if you want the gaming experience to be wireless. If not, then you just need a Micro USB to USB-A cable.

Connect your Xbox to Windows 10

You should have connected the controller now and ready with the Xbox companion app. If the app is not installed, get it from the Microsoft store. You need a Microsoft account to sign-in on the Xbox companion app. Subsequently, you will find a “connection” option. Choose that option and then the “Add a Device” option. Then the app will start a search for an Xbox console available on the local network.

After it has successfully found the network, you need to select the “connect” button for your console from the listed consoles. Now enjoy your favorite games right on your PC.
