Facebook is to start a series of audio features in the coming few months. This is very close to the popular app, Clubhouse, which allows people to participate in live conversations or just listen to them. The Covid-19 pandemic has greatly popularised the use of audio-only networks. Facebook is also allowing its users to listen to podcasts directly from the application.

The platform is also on its way to launch another new feature called Soundbites, where users make and share short audio clips. The feature is supposed to come into the market in the course of the next few months, starting with a small bunch of creators.

Zuckerberg has announced the launch of these new features on Monday during an interview with Casey Newton. Fidji Simo says, “Audio seamlessly fits within our busy lives, allows us to be inspired by new ideas, and talk with other like-minded people without pressure.”
The plans for how Facebook wishes to moderate the plans of the audio channels are still unclear. However, along with Facebook, Reddit has also announced the launch of its version of Clubhouse.
Although Facebook is accused of anti-competitive behavior in the past, Facebook has admitted to copying rivals, “certainly adapted features that others have led in.”
