Various new features are announced for the latest update of Google Assistant. However, the most notable among them for iPhone users is the feature to locate lost iPhones through Google Assistant. Android users were already enjoying this feature, but with the recent update, even iPhone users can access the ‘Find My Phone’ feature. This feature is similar to Apple’s own ‘Find My’ system.
According to the report by MacRumors, the users who have Google Assistant-enabled phones and the accompanying Google Home app on iOS will now be able to find their phones through the feature. To access the feature, the user needs to ask ‘Hey Google, Find My Phone’ to any smart Google device. Once the request is made, the Home app will send a critical alert to the respective iPhone.
This can happen because Apple has an interface that can perceive critical alerts, even through silent or Do-Not-Disturb modes. According to the report, apps require special access from Apple to send critical alerts, which Google seems to have obtained approval.
Apart from this, Google Assistant also has upcoming features, including ‘Assistant Routine,’ which seemingly approves of performing multiple daily actions simultaneously through a single command. Also, a Duplex update is expected, which makes ordering food from partner restaurants easier.
