Why Android Shows Insufficient Storage Available?

Android shows Insufficient Storage Available due to the lack of working space present on your device. It uses a total of three sets of storage space on your device:

  • One is for the app you install
  • The other one for app data files
  • The last one is for the app’s cache

These app caches are usually reported as Free Space on your Android smartphones. You have to clear up that cache from your device to restore sufficient working space. The process of clearing the app cache depends on the version and device maker.

Follow this method to clear the App cache

  • Go to the settings on your Android smartphone
  • Tap on Applications or the Applications manager options
  • Scroll to see the download section
  • A list of apps will appear displaying storage space they are covering
  • Select the More button or Menu option on the screen
  • Choose Sort by Size option to arrange the apps in decreasing order
  • Tap on the applications to see how much space they are using (it will also show the space taken by the app’s Storage and Cache section)
  • Tap on the Clear Cache option to free up space.
  • Repeat the same procedure with different apps on your Android

In some devices, there is an easy and quick way to clear the app cache:

  • Go to the settings option and select Storage
  • It will show you the storage used and the detail of cache data
  • Select the Cached Data
  • A confirmation box will appear, and Tap on the Delete option
  • It will clear up the cached data from your Android device.

Unwanted messages can take up a lot of significant space on your devices. It is primarily for the users who never delete any messages from their inbox. If you have multimedia messages stored on your device, you must start clearing them right away. Start deleting the useless messages from your inbox to fix the Insufficient Storage Available on Android.

  • Select Applications and then Manage Applications option
  • Choose any app that you think is taking up extra space or is of no use
  • Select the uninstall option
  • Repeat the same procedure for different apps that you wish to uninstall
