Sony’s first wearable AC, named ‘Reon Pocket,’ debuted last year and caused quite a hype. This year Sony has launched the ‘Reon Pocket 2’ as an upgrade to the older model. Although the appearance remains the same across both versions of the device, the current version delivers better cooling and heat absorption.
Fascinatingly, it can also be used as a heater. Sony will begin issuing licenses for Reon Pocket compatible clothing and accessories. The price is 14,850 Yen, which corresponds roughly to Rs 10,300 in India. However, for the time being, this device is only available in Japan.
According to Sony, the Reon Pocket 2 will cool or warm the body surface of the body contact part through a smartphone app. It is sweat and drip-proof, and its construction allows for mild exercises. The device’s cold and hot sections that come into contact with the body surface are made of stainless steel.
The Reon Pocket is a result of the “Sony Startup Acceleration Program,” which encourages the establishment of startups and the activity of businesses. The program surpassed its objective amount of 66 million Yen (approximately Rs 4.6 crore) in the first week itself. The general sales began in 2020 after the commercialization.
